چکیده

There have been many investigations on the uptake of radioactive phosphorus by viral infected cells (1, 2), but the number of studies in which cells of animal origin are employed are few. To our knowledge, there are no studies on the effects of poliomyelitis virus on phosphorus metabolism in the HeLa cell. However, this cell has been successfully infected by the poliomyelitis virus (3, 4). In this study we are reporting the results of uptake of radiophosphorus into cellular phosphorus fractions (inorganic, phospholipide, and nucleic acid) of the HeLa cell with and without exposure to poliomyelitis virus type I (Mahoney strain).

Evaluation and comparison of Hela, Hep2C and Vero cell lines sensitivity to polio vaccinal virus using micro and macro vaccine potency tests

Poliomyelitis, an acute viral infectious disease caused by poliovirus, still remains a public health problem in developing countries. Despite the global effort to eradicate polio, continuing the polio immunization with a potent and safe vaccine is essential. For accurate vaccine evaluation, three types of cell lines including Hela, Hep2C and Vero were evaluated and compared using two methods of...

Nucleoside incorporation into HeLa cells infected with poliomyelitis virus.

The isolation of animal cells, which can be grown in vitro in partially or completely defined media and maintained indefinitely by serial transfer, has provided a more uniform material for the study of the metabolism of an animal cell infected with virus than tissues infected in tivo. Since cells form a monolayer when they are grown attached directly to glass in stationary cultures, every cell ...

A comparative study of the effect of the poliomyelitis virus types 1, 2 & 3 on human brain cells grown in tissue culture.

In 1955 the effect of poliomyelitis virus type 1, Mahoney strain, on tissue cultures of the human brain was reported by Hogue et al. (1). In the present work similar studies are reported with poliovirus type 2, MEF I strain, and type 3, Saukett strain. For the experiments, small pieces (1 millimeter in diameter) of human brain tissue obtained at operations and autopsies were grown in hanging dr...

Replication Characteristics of Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1 (HSV-1) Recombinants in 3 Types of Tissue Cultures

A complication in the analysis of the role of ICP34.5 gene in the herpes simplex virus type-1 (HSV-1) lifecycle is the presence of overlapping antisense gene, open reading frame P (ORF P), which is also deleted in HSV-1 ICP34.5 negative mutants. A HSV-1 wild type strain (17+) ICP34.5/ORF P deletion mutant (1716) is totally avirulent in animal models and impaired in a number of in vitro function...
